Crimes Against Liberty (2010), by David Limbaugh

In Crimes Against Liberty, Limbaugh (Rush’s lesser-known brother) has managed to extrude a fresh, steaming pile of fear, fury, and right-wing, fundamentalist, hand-wringing doom and gloom prognostication and hyperbole. Limbaugh’s thoroughly documented (Fox news and the Heritage Foundation are cited as key sources) 400+ page tome articulates Obama’s crimes against America, his “socialist, secular and multicultural” vision for America, his mollifying of, and pandering to terrorists and rogue states. Limbaugh points out the President’s “fundamental dishonesty” and his “visceral contempt for America” and argues that his rabid, frothing, radical anti-Americanism is a lance-point poised to pierce the purulent boil of the American way of life. Limbaugh offers his readers a solution to Washington’s current demonic possession: “get engaged… replace them with constitution-revering, liberty-loving public servants who respect the rule of law.” Crimes Against Liberty is a perfect example of a guy trying to make a buck telling his audience what they want to hear (Fox does it…why not me?). If Obama can be accused of pandering to evil-doers, Limbaugh can be accused of producing a must-read for all the pea-brained, thick-necked, pin-headed morons who are ignorant enough to pay $29.95 to have ideologues like Limbaugh tell them what they already believe. The scary thing is that it’s a #1 New York Times Best Seller. It may just be enough to send some of the “engaged” to the polls in 2012—that is if they can see past their beer-guts to tie their shoes. A note for the critical, reasonable reader: The only good thing about this book is that you won’t have to buy toilet paper for a few days when you’re finished with it.
